City of Irving - Manual Bag Collection

The City of Irving provides a manual bag collection serviceconsisting of 21 trash routes, three recycling routes, and three brush andbulky routes. The city's Collection Division also provides special waste andhome chemical collection services.

Refuse is collected twice per week. All material for collectionmust be placed curbside no later than 7 a.m. on collection day and no earlierthan 6 p.m. the night before. Contact Solid Waste Services at (972)721-8059 for refuse collection days.

COLLECTION TIPS

Listed below are some collection tips you need to know:

Refuse and recycling should be placed at curbside, not in the street.
Refuse bags must be 13- to 30-gallon capacity.
Refuse bags can be any color except blue or red.
Recycling must be placed in transparent blue bags.
Cardboard goes inside a blue recycling bag; if it does not fit, the cardboard may be placed underneath the blue bag when placed curbside.
All bags must be tied and weigh less than 50 pounds.

SPECIALLY HANDLED ITEMS

Items requiring special handling:

Hypodermic needles: Residents are required to place all hypodermic needles in a container that cannot be punctured, such as an empty coffee can, plastic milk jug or soda bottle with lid placed securely on the container and taped closed. Call Solid Waste Services at (972) 721-8059 to arrange for collection.
Large items / brush: Large items (furniture, appliances, etc.) and brush are collected on your recycling and brush and bulky waste day.
Other items: Paint, oil, oil filters, automotive batteries and vegetable oil are collected on any regular trash day.
